All workshops include materials and are aimed at those with little or no experience of the workshop offered, and are delivered by people with many years experience of delivering the activity. Learn the Art of Calligraphy with Shropshire Scribes. Beginning by using felt pens to learn the Foundational alphabet, we’ll then move on to dip pens and ink to create your own piece of calligraphy or bookmark. All materials are included for the workshop and we’ll supply you with a small starter pack to help you in developing your new skill at home. Light refreshments provided but please bring a packed lunch.

Building on the first day of calligraphy with Shropshire Scribes we will look at how to analyse the Foundational script to enable us to understand other scripts. We will introduce a new script and look at writing with coloured paint in dip pens Please bring your materials pack included with your first session (these can also be supplied at an additional cost of £8.00)

Inspired by traditional folk and fairy tales, the door handle being a Portal into the lives of the residents, these workshops will explore this rural community and the relationship of residents to the town and the individual stories that lie behind the door. Working with renowned ceramics artist Emma Summers you will choose and learn how to cast your own ceramic piece as part of a collaborative installation work. Together we’ll look at getting started with crochet from creating your own Granny Squares to looking at how to understand patterns, we’ll give you all the tips you need to get you crocheting with confidence. Including all materials and a hook to help you continue at home.
Join fabulous Textile Artist Stephanie Gaston for this one day workshop learning how to weave a bowl using a small peg loom and weaving sticks with a variety of wools.
All materials are included plus bits and pieces to decorate your bowl and use of a peg loom on the day.

In this three hour papercutting workshop, you’ll learn everything you need to create your own lovely hand cut paper art.

Pick up lots of unique tips Lisa uses in her own work
Use of tools and equipment
Lisa will cover all the basics and be on hand throughout to assist and answer questions. After the workshop you will have the opportunity to purchase papercutting kits so you can continue your new papercutting skills at home with confidence.

Love the look of hand-knitted items and beauiful wools but have no idea how to get started, or can you knit a few stitches but can’t cast on or off? Then this workshop is just for you!
Join us and we’ll get knitting some samplers, showing you how to cast on; a few of the basic stitches to get you started; and finally how to cast off. It’s all very relaxed, no experience is necessary and before you know it you’ll be knitting all your own jumpers.

Needlefelting with Maxine

Join textile artist Maxine Smith for a one day creative workshop. Using a barbed needle to fuse different fibres together you’ll learn how to use needle-felting and hand embroidery to create a stunning and one-off piece of artwork. Needle-felting produces a tactile, textured surface on which to stitch and bead. An easy to learn craft for any experience level.No experience is necessary as Maxine will guide us all the way so you can take home a piece of work to be proud of.

Love wool, always looking for a new way of working? Then come and learn Tunisian Crochet. Together we’ll look at the basic stitch and then build your confidence by experimenting with other stitches for your collection, making blocks of colour that you could use to create a blanket or cushion cover for home.
